I have an Exchange 2003 Server which I cannot get to RECEIVE internet mail.
Outgoing mail works just fine. When I send mail to any user I receive one of
the following error messages back (depending on the ISP used for sending):
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<chuc…@centralfloridazoo.org>
(reason: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for chuc…@centralfloridazoo.org)
----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to
mail.centralfloridazoo.org.:
>>> DATA
<<< 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for chuc…@centralfloridazoo.org 550 5.1.1
<chuc…@centralfloridazoo.org>... User unknown <<< 554 5.5.2 No valid
recipients

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
'chuc…@centralfloridazoo.org' on 4/21/2006 8:20 PM
You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance,
contact your system administrator.
<baeserver.baeonline.local #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for
chuc…@centralfloridazoo.org>
The first message indicates that the user is "Unknown", but I checked and
double-checked and the address is good. The second indicates that that it is
a permission problem.
I have setup about a dozen Exchange 2003 Servers for internet mail and
never ran into this before. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
