All,
Currently we have Exchange 5.5 SP4 in place on a single server. No
replication. We are planning to upgrade to Exchange 2003 but we first have
to deploy AD. In the meantime I am wondering what is the best way to create
a second server so that in case the first server dies, we can be back up and
running with minimal downtime?
We do nightly FULL system backups using ArcserveIT. This includes Brick
Level backups using a DDS4 AutoLoader. Our Priv.edb is 11GB and our Pub.edb
is 100MB and we have approx. 125 Mailboxes.
Would setting up a second server and replicating the data be the way to go?
Or would a second "Standby" server be the way to go? That way if the
Production Server died we could delete the SAM using Server Manager, rename
Server B and add it to the domain, perform a restore from tape and be back
running?
Any advice would be appreciated.
