Our organization consists of ~17 Exchange 5.5 Sites and NT 4 domains. We
successfully completed an in place upgrade of our HQ main NT 4 domain.
Installed Exchange 2003 in to our main exchange site. Windows 2003 SP1,
Exchange 2003 SP2. The other 16 5.5 sites are SP4 of course with updated
patches.
We moved mailboxes from the 5.5 server to 2003. The 5.5 server is still the
primary bridgehead and connector server, IMC, etc. We haven't moved toward
decommissioning servers yet.
However, now 3 sites cannot send or recieve email. We are using site
connectors not X.400. Event logs show the following:
Server with Exchange 2003:
Warning MSExchangeMTA event 9297
Calling client thread does not have permission to use MTA RPCs. Windows 2000
error code: 0x080070005
Exchange 5.5 sites with the problem:
MSExchangeMTA Event ID 9318. Locality Table (LTAB) index: 11, NT/MTA error
code 5. Comms errror 5, Bind error 5 ...
We have checked the service accounts on the problems sites and everything
looks ok. Google and technet have so far not helped. Any suggestions?
