Hello,
I am currenlty planning a new installation for Exchange 2003 that will be
implimenting either NSI Double Take or Geocluster for high availablity.
Basically I will have one Exchange server and a second server for backup and
failover. There will be about 16 client accessing the system.
I am wondering what are the Exchange Server and CAL requirements for the
backup server. I am assuming I will need to buy 2 Exchange 2003 server
licenses, but will I also need to buy CALS for the backup server? Or can I
use the same ones used for the primary server since the backup server will
only be used when the primary is down.
When I inquired about this with the NSI sales rep he said I need to consult
Microsoft about that. I thought it was strange that he didnt know the answer
since they have thousands of Double Take for Exchange servers sold already.
Thanks in advance!
