Windows 2003 standard
200 concurrent users
Im seeing a problem every couple of weeks when a w3wp.exe service starts to
grab all CPU resources. I know which website/web app is doing it as each app
has its own app pool. What i cannot debug is what process within the web app
ic creating the problem. I guess its possible its a mem leak that builds up
over time but one think i would say is that it happens all of a sudden ...
i.e no slow build up , does not get slower and slower.
We allow users to run some very large reports. Typically this could mean:
1 min query execution
2 min XML file generation
But when i see the IIS slowdown the SQL profiler does not show any large
Can anyone help troubleshoot this issue ? maybe suggest some watcher tools
that may catch the issue in future ?
Typically im clearing it with IISRESET at the moment :-( ... not ideal.
App pool in question is setup like this:
recycle 00.00 & 07.00
or 870 mins
the rest of the recycling settings are the default
shutdown after 20 mins idel
queue = 100
no cpu monitoring
web garder = 1
