|Subject:||Logging USB Drive usage|

At my workplace, we don't allow USB drives in a secured area of the building.
Of course, someone could potentially sneak one in and use it. We could close
off the USB ports on all the machines, but we have devices that need those
USB ports to be open to function. So, what we would like to do is be able to
log when a USB device in general and/or a USB drive in particular has been
connected to a computer. I've looked through the security logs on a test box,
but saw nothing that seemed to indicate a USB drive usage. Is there a way to
do this? We are using mostly Windows XP with a few Windows 2003 servers.
