As recent as 4-5 months ago, when I performed a virus scan with my Norton
Suite (very tight - no problems), I had maybe 200-250K of files scanned. it
took all of 15-20 minutes. Now all of a sudden my scan takes 3-4 hours and it
says it has scanned 2600K files. When i watch the directories being scanned,
the problem directory appears to be a microsoft "/db" directory filled with
files starting with "stmx" and then alot of digits behind it. further
inspection indicates these are emails. why the sudden humongous cache of
emails? I mean i saved alot of them to my HD but not so many and so abruptly.
Did my computer become a zombie for for someone to shotgun junk mail from?
