When we try to install SQL 2005 on a two node cluster with iSCSI
NetApp-Storage (Cluster is up and running), setup fails with the following
"The drive specified cannot be used for program location. Program files must
be installed on a valid local disk available on all cluster nodes. The valid
Note that KB913815 states a similar error message with possible valid
drives; these are missing in our message, though.
Both nodes have identical C: and D: local drives with administrative shares,
shared drives are available and failover fully functional. Nodes are Windows
2003 member servers (W2003 Enterprise, SQL2005 Standard) and setup was
started first from the shared storage and from a local drive.
Before setup failed at this point we came as far as the domain groups page
of the install wizard; there setup said the setup-account did not have
sufficient privileges to add the service accounts to the domain groups, so
we rebooted because we thought maybe AD replication was slow. After the
reboots we did not get beyond the error message quoted above.
Any thoughts? Thank you,
