I have a new computer with Vista 64 bit, and XP, dual boot. In Vista, I have
installed Visual Studio 2008. I am trying to access a web site that needs
some work, but I can't get the ASPNET database to connect in Server Explorer.
The error message reads:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When
connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that
under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.
(provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance
I am running SQL Server Express on my local machine. The web site, which is
accessible from XP, is also installed locally. I have all of the SQL
services running. I am stumped by this one. I have looked at ton of pages
on the web about this, but nothing seems to address this local issue.
