|Subject:||New Server Deployment Problems|

I have a nice shiney new Dell Poweredge 2850 that I deployed this weekend
and I'm having all sorts of issues with it.
When I add a user to active directory, and add them to the administrators
group, they are unable to install software on a workstation.
I also get an error about decompressing an installer into the TEMP folder,
and to check the free space. I think this is a problem with the folder
redirection or something, but I'm not sure how to pin that one down. I was
able to log in as administrator to install the software, but some users will
need to be able to install software.
Lastly, the logon times are terrible. I've configured the accounts as per
the Windows 2003 deployment kit, and am using folder redirection for the my
documents folder. I point everything back to the server, but the
workstations take from 2 to 2:30 minutes to login. I would have thought with
a new server and clean loads on all the workstations I'd be looking at 20
Can someone advise on how to tune this better to resolve some of my issues?
I'm looking for speed as well as the roaming profile ability. I have 25
workstations with about 50 users.
