We have a Windows Server 2003 system that hosts all of our printers. I am
an administrator on that server. We connect to the printers from a Printers
web page (i.e, http://server/{Printers/), which adds RCP printer connections
to each client's Printers and Faxes folder. In general, this works fine.
Some of the people using these printers would like to be able to specify a
separator page or, if the printer supports it, enable the printer's
separator page option. In either case, this is supposed to be available on
the Advanced tab of the printer properties dialogue. While I can manipulate
the settings, most people find that all of the Advanced tab content is
grayed out. Now, I could enable the separator page on the server, but then
everyone would get one and not be able to turn it off.
How can I make the ability to specify a separator page available for
individuals to use? What permission controls the ability to modify the
values on the Advanced tab of the printer's properties on the client
systems?
