Does anyone know what happens if Windows Update triggers a restart while a
backup is in progress? I doubt the update service is aware of NTBackup or
vice versa.
Full backups to a secondary backup drive across the LAN take 12 hours for
one of my servers. I added code to the backup script to stop the update
service and restart it, and also to capture the output of the "net start"
command and include it in the emailed backup report so I know if it
restarted. Most nights the backup finishes before update time.
Any comments on this practice?
