This seems to be about the most appropriate NG to post this to, since there
doesn't appear to be anything for Virtual Machine Manager yet...
I have set up VMM 08 on Server 2008, and the patches are up to date. I was
able to add a brand new Hyper-V host with no trouble at all. However, when I
try to add a Windows 2003 R2, SP2 server running Virtual Server R2 as a host,
the VMM service stops and it fails to add the host. One difference between
the Hyper-V server and the Virtual Server is that Hyper-V has no guests yet,
while the Virtual Server box has about 20 guests. It doesn't seem as though
this would matter.
Are there any needed prerequisites such as patches for Virtual Server hosts?
There are 2 patches that are needed for Hyper-V, but I didn't see any listed
for Virtual Server. Has anyone else seen this problem or have any idea what
might be causing it?
