question concerning start menu changes from server 2k3 to server 2k8 (I
guess same as xp to vista).
I did not see a start menu folder within each user's folder? I found this:
which seems to contain the contents of the 'all programs' section of the
start menu, for all users. so where would I put a shortcut intended only for
a particular user?
and what about the main area of the start menu? I see some new terminology
here, like, 'pinning' programs to this area... after doing this and viewing
the properties I see it is not a normal shortcut file, the location
specified is the real file's location. So what is a 'pinned' item then, if
not a shortcut? Do they exist for all users, or only per user, etc? can
their creation be scripted?
basically, what has prompted these questions is that I'm scripting the
creation of some shortcuts and one of the locations I need to use is the
start menu... so I'm looking at what goes where...
any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
